Omega Speedmaster

ABOUT COLLECTION

Omega Speedmaster is the chronograph from the Swiss watch house Omega. The collection dates back to 1957 and reference CK 2915. The Speedmaster took part in NASA's lunar programme and was qualified for space flight. In 1965 astronaut Edward White, wearing a Speedmaster with calibre 321, made the first American spacewalk. The recognisable shape of the classic Moonwatch Professional is an asymmetric case with crown guards, twisted lugs and a tachymeter scale on the bezel.

The main choices within the collection are movement and material. The Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is still hand-wound, like the historical watches, while some versions – such as the Speedmaster Racing, '57 and Moonphase – are automatic. Materials include stainless steel, ceramic, yellow and rose gold, Omega's own 18-carat Moonshine Gold alloy and bi-colour. Most are men's watches, but there are unisex models too, such as the Co-Axial Chronograph 38 mm.

The quartz MoonSwatch – a joint Omega and Swatch line in Bioceramic – appears alongside the Speedmaster and has its own collection page.
