Omega De Ville Prestige is the classic branch of the De Ville family. Introduced in 1994 as a formal watch for business dress, it has a round case, a stepped bezel and Roman numerals. What sets it apart from the sporty Seamaster and Speedmaster is a slim case that slips under a shirt cuff.
The line includes both automatic and quartz watches. The turning point for the mechanical versions was the Omega 2500 calibre – the brand's first series-production movement with the Co-Axial escapement invented by George Daniels. This escapement reduces friction between parts, helps maintain accuracy and extends service intervals. Cases are made of stainless steel and 18K gold – Sedna rose gold and Canopus white gold – as well as bi-colour steel and gold. Dials are finished with guilloché, a sunburst or a silk-like texture.
Within the line, the choice is about movement, case diameter and how the watch is worn: on a leather strap or a multi-link bracelet. One example is the De Ville Prestige 36.5mm, reference 4875.50.01: a steel case and a black dial with applied Roman numerals and a date at 3 o'clock.
