Rolex was founded in London in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis, registered the Rolex name in 1908 and moved to Geneva after the First World War. The company built its reputation on robust, precise everyday watches: the waterproof Oyster case of 1926, the Perpetual self-winding rotor of 1931 and the Datejust of 1945, the first self-winding wristwatch to show the date in a dial window.
The core collections are the Datejust and Day-Date, the Submariner, GMT-Master II, Cosmograph Daytona, Explorer, Yacht-Master and Sky-Dweller, alongside the Oyster Perpetual and the Pearlmaster jewellery models.
