Rolex Milgauss

ABOUT COLLECTION

The Rolex Milgauss is the brand's anti-magnetic watch, designed for work in strong magnetic fields. Rolex presented the first model, reference 6541, in 1956 for scientists and engineers, and it was tested by specialists at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. The name combines the French mille ("thousand") and gauss, the unit of magnetic flux density: the watch withstands fields of up to 1,000 gauss.

In 2007 Rolex reintroduced the Milgauss with the reference 116400, and in 2023 it discontinued the line. All the watches here belong to that generation: automatic Rolex calibre 3131 with a 48-hour power reserve, a lightning-bolt seconds hand and water resistance to 100 metres.

The key choices are dial and crystal: a black dial under a green-tinted sapphire crystal; a Z-Blue dial under the same crystal, added by Rolex in 2014; and a white dial under a clear crystal, produced until 2016. Each listing gives the condition, what is included, the reference, calibre and clasp type.
