Daniel Roth Academie

ABOUT COLLECTION

Daniel Roth Academie is a classic line of Swiss Daniel Roth watches in the ‘double ellipse’ case that became the brand's signature. It was created by Daniel Roth himself after his work on reviving the house of Breguet.

The case combines straight sides with rounded upper and lower segments: circle and rectangle meet in a single, patented shape. Most dials are decorated with guilloché — Clous de Paris or vertical stripes — and many have blued hands and Roman numerals.

Within the line the choice is first of all by complication. The simplest models have a date: the Datomax has a large date and small seconds, the Le Sentier Yellow Gold a date window and an integrated yellow gold bracelet. The Premier Retrograde shows the hours with a retrograde hand. The Academie Ellipsocurvex Papillon Platinum and Ellipsocurvex Papillon Rose Gold use the Papillon display with a jumping hour. The calendar branch opens with the Academic Athys III, with large date, moon phases and power-reserve indicator. Next comes the perpetual calendar: in the Perpetual Calendar Rose Gold it is combined with the equation of time, in the Perpetual Calendar Moon Phase Chronograph with a chronograph. The Chronograph Skeleton Dial White Gold, with its skeletonised dial, stands apart.

The second deciding factor is metal and attachment. Cases come in rose, yellow and white gold, platinum and steel, on a leather strap or bracelet. Related collections include Daniel Roth Chronograph, Daniel Roth Tourbillon and Daniel Roth Masters.
