Breguet Type XXII

ABOUT COLLECTION

Type XXII is the pilot's chronograph from the Swiss manufacture Breguet, a continuation of the Type XX and Type XXI line, whose history begins with military orders in the mid-20th century. The Type XXII was released in 2010: the familiar silhouette of the pilot's chronograph received a high-frequency movement.

Frequency is the key difference. The balance beats at 10 Hz, or 72,000 vibrations per hour, so the central chronograph seconds hand completes a full revolution in 30 seconds rather than a minute. Reference 3880ST/H2/3HV uses the self-winding Breguet calibre 589F with a 45-hour power reserve. Besides the chronograph, the watch has a flyback function, a second time zone with 24-hour display, and a date.

Visually, the Type XXII is recognised by the fluting on the case sides, the rotating bezel and the black dial under a sapphire crystal. This reference is a men's watch with a 44 mm stainless steel case. Within the line, watches are chosen by case metal — stainless steel or pink gold — by strap or bracelet, and by condition and accessories.
