Zenith Defy Classic

ABOUT COLLECTION

Defy Classic is a sports branch of the Defy family from the Swiss manufacture Zenith; the Defy name itself goes back to the 1969 line. Defy Classic has two quite different generations, most easily told apart by the case. The watches offered here are large, in steel and two-tone, with a rotating bezel and sapphire crystal. The later Defy Classic models come in a 41 mm cushion-shaped case in grade 5 titanium or ceramic, on an integrated bracelet or rubber strap, with a solid or openworked dial. The other branches of the family — Defy, Defy Skyline, Defy Xtreme and Defy Extreme — have their own pages.

Within the line, the movement is the main choice; all the models here are self-winding. The Defy Classic Elite Sea has a date, small seconds and a power reserve indicator, powered by the in-house calibre Elite 685, in a 43 mm steel case with a black dial. The chronographs use El Primero calibres and measure 46.5 mm. The Defy Classic Open El Primero runs on the El Primero 4021 with an open balance, in a steel and rose gold case. The Defy Rainbow Flyback Chronograph uses the El Primero 4000 with flyback function and shows the date. Those who need timing choose a chronograph; for those content with date and power reserve on the dial, there is the Elite Sea.

Each listing gives the reference, calibre, power reserve, case size, material, condition and what is included.
