A. Lange & Sohne Langematik

ABOUT COLLECTION

The Langematik collection holds a special place in the modern history of the Saxon manufacture A. Lange & Söhne. Introduced in the late 1990s, it was Glashütte's answer to collectors who wanted uncompromising haute horlogerie movements with the everyday convenience of automatic winding. The series was built around a self-winding architecture with a micro-rotor, which kept the cases slim and well suited to a business dress code.

The line's signature technical achievement is the SAX-O-MAT movement with the patented ZERO-RESET function. When the crown is pulled out, the seconds hand instantly jumps to zero and stops, so the time can be set to a reference signal to the exact second. The Langematik case keeps the restraint of Saxon design: stepped lugs, deep engraving on the caseback, lancet hands and the house's signature double-window outsize date.

Technically and aesthetically, these watches are a model of German pragmatism. The movements are traditionally made of untreated German silver, decorated with Glashütte ribbing and a hand-engraved balance cock. Langematik is aimed at those who value restrained elegance, finished engineering and a watch that sits comfortably under a shirt cuff.
