The Patek Philippe Nautilus (ref. 5980/1AR-001) is a sports watch with a 40.5 mm octagonal case in rose gold and stainless steel. It has a blue dial.
It is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement. Features: Central seconds, luminescent markers, transparent caseback, screw-down crown. Water-resistant to 120 m. The watch is fitted with a Nautilus bracelet with a folding clasp in rose gold.
The in-house CH 28-520 C caliber has a column wheel and a vertical disc clutch that lets the chronograph start smoothly without the central hand jumping. It has a 21-carat gold rotor and a Gyromax balance beating at 28,800 vph.

Patek Philippe was founded in Geneva in 1839 by Antoine Norbert de Patek and François Czapek; the watchmaker Adrien Philippe joined Patek in 1845, and the firm took its current name in 1851. Still independent and family-owned, the manufacture is known for hand-finished movements and for complications such as perpetual calendars, minute repeaters and astronomical displays.
Key collections include the Calatrava, the classic round dress watch; the Nautilus, the steel sports watch designed by Gérald Genta in 1976; the Aquanaut; and the Grand Complications, which include models such as the Sky Moon Celestial. Ladies' watches, the Golden Ellipse and the Gondolo are also part of the catalogue.
