Franck Muller Long Island

Long Island is a collection of rectangular watches from the Swiss brand Franck Muller, rooted in the Art Deco style of the 1930s. The case, with straight sides and pronounced lugs, is curved along the wrist, and so is the sapphire crystal. So even a large rectangle sits flush against the wrist and slides under a shirt cuff.

Long Island is recognisable by its dial: sunburst guilloché radiating from the centre, large Arabic numerals elongated to follow the case shape, and hands most often in blued steel. Cases come in 18-carat (750) rose, white and yellow gold. In women's jewellery versions diamonds decorate the bezel and lugs, and on the Long Island Relief the numerals are three-dimensional appliqués.

Besides simple time-only models, the line includes complications. In the Long Island Crazy Hours the numerals are placed out of order, and the hour hand jumps to the right one each hour. The Long Island White Gold Master of Complications is an automatic chronograph with date on calibre FM 7000. The Perpetual Calendar Rose Gold Silver Dial combines a tourbillon, perpetual calendar and moon phases in a rectangular case, with the movement visible through a transparent caseback.
