Tourbillon Souverain is a line of F.P. Journe watches — the independent brand of watchmaker François-Paul Journe — with a tourbillon and a Remontoir d'Égalité constant-force device. The first watches in the series came out in 1999. They were the first wristwatches to combine a tourbillon with a remontoir, done to achieve even running throughout the unwinding of the mainspring rather than for effect.
Two generations of movement exist. Early movements were made of brass: the Tourbillon Souverain 38mm Platinum Brass Movement has a 38 mm platinum case and the brass calibre 1498. Later the brand moved to 18-carat rose gold movements and added the Seconde Morte dead-beat seconds. The Tourbillon Souverain Rose Gold has a 40 mm rose gold case and calibre 1403 in the same metal.
The dial is asymmetric: on the right a silver guilloché sub-dial for hours and minutes, on the left the tourbillon aperture, at the top the power-reserve indicator. The transparent caseback shows the calibre: rhodium-plated brass or rose gold.
Within the line, watches are chosen by case metal and size and by movement generation. The case is platinum or rose gold, 38 or 40 mm; the movement is early brass or rose gold with dead-beat seconds. These are men's watches on leather straps, with a buckle in the same metal as the case. The neighbouring F.P. Journe Souverain section has a similar name but is a separate page.
