IWC Schaffhausen, the International Watch Company, was founded in 1868 by the American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones, who set up his workshop on the Rhine in Schaffhausen in north-eastern Switzerland. The company is known for technical, engineered watches, the Pellaton automatic winding system, and its long association with pilot's watches.
The main collections are the Pilot's Watches, including the Big Pilot and the ceramic Top Gun editions, the Portugieser with its clean, large dials, the Portofino, the Ingenieur and the Aquatimer. Within the Portugieser and Pilot's lines IWC also makes chronographs, perpetual calendars, tourbillons and minute repeaters.
