The Moon Orbiter is the lunar line from the Swiss brand Romain Jerome, known for its DNA collections made from materials with a history. It is not a classic moon-phase watch but a three-dimensional object: an architectural rectangular case with steel elements and sapphire inserts through which the movement can be seen from several sides. The model name includes Moon Dust-DNA, one of the brand's space-themed lines; the Moon-DNA collection has its own page. Metal from the Apollo 11 spacecraft is incorporated into the case steel, and genuine moon dust is added to the textured dial coating.
The construction is best seen on the tourbillon model. On the left of the case, at 9 o'clock, is a flying tourbillon whose carriage makes one full rotation every 60 seconds. On the right is an off-centre dial for hours and minutes, and at the bottom of the case a power reserve indicator. The movement is the automatic calibre RJ3000-A, developed with the La Joux-Perret workshop, with a 42-hour power reserve.
The model offered is the Moon Dust-DNA Moon Orbiter Tourbillon, reference RJ.M.TO.MO.001.03. It is a men's watch in a steel case measuring 48.5 mm along its long side, with sapphire crystal, a dial in grey, anthracite and black tones, and a black leather strap with a steel buckle. It is in good condition with the movement checked, and comes with box and papers. When choosing a Moon Orbiter, look at condition and completeness, and try the case size on your wrist. The brand's other lunar line is the Moon Invader.
