Girard-Perregaux 1966

ABOUT COLLECTION

Girard-Perregaux 1966 is a line of classic dress watches from the Swiss brand Girard-Perregaux. The name refers to 1966, when the manufacture presented its first high-frequency calibre, which won it a prize from the Neuchâtel Observatory. The collection has a strict look in the Swiss tradition: a round case, a narrow bezel, applied markers and leaf hands with no superfluous decoration.

The models use the in-house automatic calibre GP03300. It powers the three-hand models with date, and is the base for calibre GP033Q0, with a perpetual calendar and moon-phase module.

The 1966 models come in 38 or 40 mm cases. The 38 mm Classique 1966 and Classique Elegance 1966 are in rose or white gold, with central seconds and date. The 40 mm models are the steel 1966 Orion and the 1966 Perpetual Calendar in White Gold. The main choices are size, case material and functions: 38 mm in gold is the classic size to wear under a cuff, 40 mm is more noticeable on the wrist; steel is more practical for every day, while the perpetual calendar puts a complex movement in the same strict case.
